About Us
Providing a Welcoming Day Center for Individuals with Brain Injuries and their Carers
About Us
Move Ahead Wakefield is a dedicated local charity based in Outwood. Run entirely by volunteers, we provide a welcoming day centre for people living with brain injuries, along with their families and carers.
At Move Ahead, we believe our members are so much more than the conditions they live with. We provide access to connection, creativity, and companionship. Our sessions give members the chance to share experiences, enjoy activities, and feel part of a supportive community.
Enriching Activities
From painting and crafts to group outings and social events, we create opportunities for members to express themselves, build confidence, and have fun.
Supportive Environment
We strive to create a space where everyone feels welcome — a place where survivors, families, and carers can find encouragement, friendship, and understanding.

Our Story
Move Ahead was created to give brain injury survivors and their families somewhere to belong. Many of our members face isolation, frustration, and the challenges that often come with life after a brain injury. We wanted to change that.
What began as a small group meeting for creative activities and conversation has grown into a thriving day centre where friendships are made, confidence is rebuilt, and new skills are discovered. Over the years, we’ve hosted everything from art exhibitions to trips out, and even cut a disc as a choir, proving that life after a brain injury can still be full of colour, laughter, and connection.
Our Vision
Together, Let’s Paint a Brighter Tomorrow
